When this California couple moved to Austin and bought an older home, they knew immediately that they wanted to remodel it. The home had good bones, but it was extremely compartmentalized. The entryway was a separate divided room from the living room which was separate from the family room and dining room. The kitchen was also walled off from the living room. It was a typical 70’s style house that needed a dose of 2016. The master bathroom was also oddly small and needed a complete makeover. Here are the before and after side by side comparison pictures:
The wall dividing the living and family rooms was shrunken down significantly and the wall between the entry and living room torn down. To carry the load of the roof, we put a large beam in the attic.
The kitchen was totally gutted and redone, with the addition of a massive island with quartz countertop.
Another shot of the living/family/dining rooms and the walls we removed.
The Master bedroom had two massive closets and one small bathroom. We expanded the bathroom into one closet and put in a large shower. Check out the custom barn door with mirror!
The outside of the house received a facelift as well with all new cedar posts, windows, and a brand new roof from Pedernales Roofing.
We are very pleased with how this house turned out!
